IDENTITY &LOCATION OF MARSA ALAM AIRPORT
the gateway to the South Red Sea
The new Marsa Alam International Airport is the first privately owned and operated international commercial airport in Egypt and is the first airport in aviation history operating under a complete BOT system. EMAK Marsa Alam for Management & Operation of Airports SAE, a subsidiary of the M.A. Al-Kharafi Group of Kuwait, had successfully negotiated the 40-year BOT concession agreement with the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority. The new airport is operated under a separate agreement by Aeroports de Paris. With its opening Marsa Alam International Airport became a new international gateway to the new resorts area of the South Red Sea
The Safety and comfort of passengers are the uppermost in the airport design. The 3,240 meter runway can accommodate Boeing 737 – 757 – 767, Airbus 320 – 310 – 300 jets and similar aircrafts; whilst the taxi-ways permit easy and quick access to the terminal building.
All services and aids necessary for safe operation are incorporated, including rescue services, fully equipped control tower, Navigational Aids and support facilities. The terminal has a modular design, which can be easily expanded to accommodate up to 4 million passengers a year. All areas, including the secure “check-in” hall, are fully air-conditioned and a number of restaurants, duty-free shops, and other retail outlets are provided for the passengers’ security, safety, comfort, efficiency and enjoyment.
The concessionaires of Marsa Alam International Airport are also the lead master developers of the new Port Ghalib resort community,
